What is Joy?

Last Saturday night I had one of those "moments". I sat in the livingroom of our new (old) house, surrounded by new friends, sipping a glass of nice wine and listening to cello virtuoso Corbin Keep (www.wildcellist.com) play the Bach 1st Cello Suite for an appreciative audience. I closed my eyes and thought to myself: "Yes, this is real, and what more could I ask for at this moment? This is perfect joy!" Since I've moved to Bowen Island I find I've had a significant number of "perfect moments" like that: in the forest, on a rocky shore, at an outdoor festival, in my kayak, on the deck of the ferry...it's so amazing to feel like I belong here. We took a big leap of faith to come here, not to mention a serious loss in income. For me, it's been well worth it. What is life without those "moments"?
